Mun-T
By MUNT Press Group.
Tilatá School is back again with the Model United Nations (MUN-T) developed by the tenth grade students. This project is being directed by the Current Events teachers, Laura Gamboa and Nikola Pecjak. Until now, it has been a process of preparation and research about the diversity of countries.
Not all students are searching on web since a great variety of tasks were opened this year. A lot of complaints appeared in 2007 with the Model because not everyone felt comfortable with the tasks that needed to be done. That is the reason why there is a new group named logistics who is responsible of having everything ready for the conference. They take care of the rooms, computers, water and the labels with the names of the countries. Additionally, there is the Press group which is the one who maintains the students, and you, informed with the latest events that happen during this preparation. To know how everything is working among the tenth grade students, we did a series of interviews exploring the inside of our MUNT 2008. These were the basic results that we obtained with it:
Things that worry de most
· The lack of influence of the committee in which the students belong.
· Not having a good representation of the county.
· Poor information found in the web.
· There would be a huge competence between the delegates.
Most difficult task to be done
· Write a perfect opening speech with good arguments.
· The position paper- mentioned by the majority of the students: “We have to look for valid information of the country that is not always easily found”.
